October 1, 2009 Mattie Faye Johnson passed away peacefully and went home to eternal rest Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Crouse Hospital. She was born on December 10, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Rosie Lee and Willie C. Mitchell. She was employed at Miller Brewing Company for 18 years. She was a member of Brown Memorial United Methodist Church. She joins her family who preceded her in death, her husband, Richard Johnson; her parents, Rosie and Willie C. Mitchell; one brother, Timothy Mitchell. Mattie leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her brother, Willie (Wanda) Mitchell of Syracuse; three goddaughters, Shayneen Bennett, Brittany Smart, and Keely Bennett; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Williams of Syracuse and Juanita (Bobby) Williams of Auburn; brother-in-law, John (Gladys) Johnson of Auburn; aunt, Fannie Bailey of Syracuse; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services: Thursday 1 p.m. at Brown Memorial Methodist Church. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling Hours: Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 221 Davis Street, Syracuse.
