Matthew Richard Carter, 17, of 4649 Old Spartanburg Road, Apartment 34, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile accident.Born on Sept. 24, 1987, in Winter Park, Fla., he was the son of Richard Gordon Carter of Folly Beach, S.C., and Diane Wangelin Carter of Taylors, S.C.He attended Mitchell Road Christian Academy and Eastside High School.He was a member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church.Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Adam Christopher Carter of the home; a grandfather, James Thornton of Spartanburg, S.C., a grandmother, Phyllis Wangelin of Moline, Ill.; and a great-grandmother, Effie Sweek of Spartanburg, S.C.Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Stuart Latimer and Pastor Randy Smith officiating.
