Mary J.Williams Mary J.Williams, 93, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, after a brief illness, with her family at her bedside. Funeral services with a reception will be at First United Methodist Church of Sanford at 11 a.m. EDT on Wednesday. Burial will be in Perry 2 p.m. EDT Thursday. There will be a visitation period with the family at the First Methodist Church of Sanford from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT today.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs, The First Methodist Church of Sanford or the Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise. Seminole Flower Shop will be assisting with floral arrangements.American Family Funerals (407-339-0070) is handling arrangements. Mary was born in Quincy and was raised, married and had three sons in Perry.Her parents, Thomas N. and Ethel Woodbery Jones, now deceased, were long-time residents of Perry. Mary and her family moved from Perry to Quincy immediately after her husband returned from service in World War II. Her daughter was born soon after in Quincy. Her children were raised in Quincy. Her husband had a long career with Winn-Dixie in a supervisory position, residing in DeLand at the time of his death.After her husband died, Mary lived for several years in Tallahassee and in 1992 moved to Lake Mary where she lived until her death. She was a piano teacher for more than 35 years and was an active member of The Methodist Church and many other organizations including the PEO and NSDAR. She was a skilled gardener, helped establish several clubs and was a member of the Ixora Garden Club of Sanford at the time of her death.Mary Williams had many rare attributes including being a fifth generation Floridian Ñ her ancestors had come from South Carolina to farm in Gadsden County in 1824, soon after Florida became a U. S. Territory. She is survived by two sons, Lovett E. Jr. of Cedar Key and Thomas M. (wife Joyce) of Tallahassee; and a daughter, Mary Anne Cleveland (husband Mack N.) of Longwood; three sisters, Jesse Inman of Lake Seminole, Geneva Greve of Tallahassee and Kathryn Maxwell of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece and many friends spanning the generations.She was preceded in death by her husband Lovett E. Williams Sr., a youngest son, Robert W. Williams, and a brother, Cornelius Jones of Perry.
