Mary Virginia Futral Jackson - WALLINGFORD, PA - Mary Virginia Futral Jackson passed away January 30, 2010 after a brief illness. A resident of Plush Mills Senior Living Community in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, she previously resided at Plantation Estates in Matthews, North Carolina. Mrs. Jackson was born March 4, 1918 in Savannah, Georgia to Joel Eben Futral and Kate Florence Smith Futral. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, a sister Margaret Ruth Futral, and a brother Col. Allen Ashley Futral. After graduating from Savannah High School, Mrs. Jackson earned a BS degree in Commerce Science from the University of Georgia. In 1941 she married William Morgan Jackson. While pursuing his career as a mechanical engineer, the couple made their home in multiple states including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Mrs. Jackson's roots remained planted in Georgia where she maintained a strong interest in the history of her family in both Savannah and Jefferson County. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Susan J. Nahay and husband Bill of Savannah, Georgia, Mrs. Eloise J. Bartle and husband Bill of Cleveland, Tennessee, Virginia J. Speare and husband Robert of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Futral family cemetery near the Old Bethel Church between Louisville and Bartow Georgia.
