Mary V. (Cookie) Stout Cooper, 85, of Tuscumbia, died Jan. 11, 2008.Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel.The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in the chapel, with burial in Colbert Memorial Gardens.Son-in-law, Dr. John S. Connell, will officiate.Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cooper Sr.; daughter-in-law, Lynda Cooper; parents, Leo and Lucy Stout; great-grandchild, Grace Duval Davis; sister, Marie Burcham; brother, Houston (Red) Stout; infant siblings, William, Lucille and Charles Stout.Survivors include two sons, John Robert (Buddy) Cooper Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Henagar, Ala., James William (Jim) Cooper, of Tuscumbia, Ala.; daughter, Donna Connell and husband, John, of Savannah, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.She was a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. She made a career of serving the Lord and others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was truly a blessing to all who crossed her path.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Trey Connell, Jacob Connell, Josh Cooper, Jason Cooper, Chris Anderson, and great-grandsons, Shane Anderson, Jeffrey Cooper and Chance Cooper.Grandson, Army Sgt. 1st Class William Cooper, currently serving third tour in Iraq, will serve as honorary pallbearer along with the staff of Sunbridge Shoals, staff of Hospice Tennessee Valley and Good Samaritan Hospice.A special thanks to honorary pallbearers who meant so very much to her.Colbert Memorial of the Shoals is directing.
