Mary Teresa Marino August 11, 1922- December 12, 2010 NORWICH - Mary (D'Amato) Marino of Norwich died Sunday, December 12th at the age of 88 with her loving family by her side. She was born in 1922, the daughter of the late Sabina and Vicenzo D'Amato. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Marino who predeceased her. They were united in marriage in 1943 at St. Mary's Church in Norwich and were married for 50 years. Mrs. Marino was a lifelong resident of Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1940. She was a bookkeeper throughout her life and was employed at the U.S. Finishing Company, the U.S. Submarine Base, Mr. Big, and Rosenberg and Quintal Insurance agencies. After retirement, she volunteered at the Wm. Backus Hospital and worked part time for the Liberty Store. She was past president of the Norwich Italian Women's Social Club and a member of the Italian Heritage Committee. She is survived by a daughter; Marilyn Ramos and her husband Ramon of Fairfield; a son, John and his wife Patricia of Preston; and three grandchildren; Lisa Abel and her husband Chris of Farmington; Lori Marino of Manchester and Joe Marino of Lodi, NJ. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family and many friends will greatly miss her warm smile, generous heart and gracious spirit. Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. this Wednesday at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff St. Norwich. The funeral will assemble at the funeral home Thursday at 10 A.M. and proceed to am 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Norwich with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Italian Heritage Committee Scholarship Fund, 192 Wightman Ave., Norwich.
