Sister Mary T. Linehan (Sister Marita John), dedicated Sister of Charity for 61 years, entered into eternal life on May 26, 2009. Born on November 22, 1925 in Bronx, NY, Mary attended St. Augustine School and Cathedral High School. She obtained her BBA in Management from St. John University and her MHA in Hospital Administration from Columbia University School of Public Health. Sister Mary spent her ministry in St. Vincent Hospital, Staten Island as Admitting Officer, Controller and Assistant Administrator. This was followed by her 31 years as Administrator and President of St. Joseph Medical Center, Yonkers, NY. In 2000, she became a trustee of St. Joseph Medical Center after she retired. In these positions, she was known to labor tirelessly for the good of both patients and staff of the Medical Center. She was seen daily throughout the Hospital checking on patient care as well as staff concerns. Sister Mary labored on many Boards, committees and commissions related to Health Care, especially St. Vincent, NY and to the ministries of the Sisters of Charity. Sister was additionally Certified by NY State Nursing Home Administrator. She was a FACHE and a member of the HFMA. Beloved daughter of the late Jeremiah and Margaret Corkery Linehan and sister of the late Joseph. Mary is survived by her brothers John and his wife Vivian, Bart and Fr. Brian as well as her nephews Barth, Dennis, Michael and niece Tara Linehan Ferrante and sister-in-law Jane Linehan. Reposing at Mount St. Vincent Convent, 6301 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 1-8 PM, prayer service at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church (Church of the Immaculate Conception), South Broadway, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
