Mary Sue Parker Walden, 71, of Florence, Ala., was brought into this world Nov. 13, 1939, and departed from it Sept. 14, 2010. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenny Windsor officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the church.She was a native and lifelong resident of Florence, Ala. Sue Walden was a loving mother and housewife. Sue was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Her home was a safe house for far too many to count. Whether it was the Brownies meeting under her ever watchful eye or just a group of kids playing in the yard outside, the sound of joyous children's laughter was never far from her ear. Though her health declined through the years, she never let it stop her from doing anything she pleased. Let us all keep that same spirit of "stick tooit-ness" if only for her memory. Nana/Granny, you will be greatly missed.She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. Parker and Doris Davis.She was the beloved wife of William Eddie Walden for 52 years and mother of his four children; son, William Eddie (Jody) Walden II and wife, Vicki, of Florence, Ala.; daughters, Rene House, husband, David, of Florence, Ala., Mary Lynn King and husband, Joe, of Killen, Ala., and Mary Sue Milly, husband, Michael, of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, George W. Parker Jr. and Wesley Parker, both of Texas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Trey Walden, Sam Walden, Andrew King, Cody Brown and Scotty King, son-in-law, David House Sr.Honorary bearers are Joe King, David House Jr., Michael Milly and Steve Wright.A special thanks to Dr. Morris and his nurse, Barbara.Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights, is directing.
