CARTER, MARY SUE - age 81, passed away in Knoxville on February 24, 2015. She was a loving mother and "Mimi" to all her family. A faithful member of Central Baptist Church, Fountain City, she worked there in the Family Life Center. Sue retired from Comcast, worked many years at the Krystal Company, and was always willing to give of her time, she volunteered at the Knoxville Police Department, participated in the KPD Citizens Police Academy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Carter, Sr.; parents, George and Ruth Wolfenbarger; and brothers, Price and Chester Wolfenbarger. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her sons, Barry Wise, John Carter, Jr. and wife Susan; daughters, Lisa Marsh and husband Rick, Cynthia Gass and husband Bob; beloved step-children, Dennis Carter, Jackie Coffman, Mary L. Heron, Donna Gurule, Nancy Villavicencio, Tammy Monley, and John H. Carter; grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, and Jordan Barkley, Johnathan, Brandon, and Jacob Carter; brother, Robert Wolfenbarger; special friends, Francis and Cyndee Gentry; several nieces and nephews; and loving pet Rusty. The family will receive friends at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 27th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The service will follow with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Fran Mitchell. The Graveside Service will be held Saturday, February 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, with her sons-in-law and grandsons as pallbearers. A procession will commence at 12:30 pm from Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Fountain City Ministry Center or the Knoxville Humane Society.
