Sister Mary Seton Flynn, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, N.J., at the age of 90. The wake for Sr. Mary Seton will be held in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, N.J., from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 6 p.m. Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station, N.J., at 10 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dangler Funeral Home, Summit, N.J. Sr. Mary Seton was born in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Arthur and Catherine (Corcoran) Flynn. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 24, 1948, and was a member for 61 years. Sr. Mary Seton served in the education ministry in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Sacred Heart School, Vailsburg, from 1949 to 1950; Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange, from 1950 to 1959; St. Catharine School, Glen Rock, from 1959 to 1968; Epiphany School, Cliffside Park, from 1968 to 1975; and St. Thomas the Apostle School, Bloomfield, from 1975 to 1999. Sr. Mary Seton received her B.S. degree in education from the College of St. Elizabeth. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, in 1999, where she resided until her death. She is survived by four nieces in New Jersey, Catherine McDonald of Bayonne, Margaret Iungerman of Roselle Park, Mary Ellen DePaul of River Edge, and Doris Farrell of Jersey City. She is also survived by six grandnieces and grandnephews, a great-grandniece and great-grandnephew. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sr. Eileen Dolores Flynn (Sister of Charity) and Doris Hanley, and a nephew, James Hanley. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, N.J. 07961-0476.
