STUART Mary (Jean) nee Brand, age 86, died suddenly July 22 after suffering a massive stroke. Born in Port Gordon, Scotland, 24 April 1918 she came to Canada with her family in 1926 and settled in rural North Battleford, Sask. For many years she was a housekeeper at the Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon, Sask. She married her beloved husband, Wallace James Stuart, who had recently arrived from Perth, Scotland, November 1949. Upon Wallace's retirement from the Sask. Power Corp they came to live in Victoria, B.C. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary November 1999. They took many senior bus trips and thoroughly enjoyed Victoria. Wallace passed away in November 2002 age 89. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Mary & William Brand; also her brothers, William Brand and David (Hermione) Brand; her sisters, Margret (Earl) Gibson, Ella (Roy) Strong; a nephew, Graham (Pao) Strong, Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary is survived by four nephews, Calvin Gibson, Toronto, Sinclair Brand, Toronto, William Strong, Vancouver and Roy Strong, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. A memorial service and interment of ashes will be held in late August at the church of Saint John The Divine, Quadra Street.
