Mary Marcelle Rogers, 73, dedicated and loving companion of Charles Mergenthaler, of 753 Oil Mill Road, Piedmont, S.C., passed away on February 21, 2007, at her home.She was born August 6, 1933, in Liberty, S.C., the daughter of the late J.C. (Buddy) and Ruth Harris Rogers. As a young child, her family moved to Piedmont, where she attended Piedmont School. Before her illness, she attended Tabernacle of Faith Church in Piedmont, S.C.Surviving, in addition to Charles, are four daughters, Sandra Todd, Brenda (Wayne) Raines, Marcia (Stan) Franklin and Verna Harrison; two sons, Kenneth Doyle (Brenda) White and Jack Lee (Karen) White; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Juanita (Bill) Cox of Piedmont and Martha Nell McClendon of Mobile, Ala., and a brother, Lindsey (Jean) Rogers of Greenville, and her best friend/caregiver, Betty Baker, of the home.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel, conducted by Rev. Mahlon Helmuth. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens beside her mother and father. Visitation will be one hour before the service, at the mortuary.Flowers are optional, or donations may be made to Hospice.
