Mary Ellen Diane Powell Mary passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 64 years. Predeceased by her parents Jean Lynds (1977) and Archie Lynds (1979); and her brother Ron Lynds (2007). Left to mourn are her loving husband Duane and her wonderful children, Colleen Hamblin (Greg), Laura, April and Harris Powell; granddaughters, Ariel and Nicole Hamblin; brothers, Elwood, Ken and Vern Lynds of Moose Jaw, Mel Lynds in Alberta; sisters, Mabel Howes (Gerald), Elaine Field, Alice Sedman (Reg) and Bettijean Lynds of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was born April 3, 1944 and was raised on a farm outside of Moose Jaw. She lived in Regina for a few years, and daughter Colleen was born in 1971. They later moved back to Moose Jaw. Mary and Duane met in 1973. They were married on July 28, 1975 and moved out to the family farm near Rouleau, SK. Laura was born in 1976, April in 1977 and Harris in 1981. Mary loved country life as well as country music. She helped Duane with the farming while raising the four children. She enjoyed gardening and baking, as well as several crafts. She always remembered family and friends birthdays and anniversaries either with a phone call or a card. Mary will be sadly missed by everyone she knew. A special thank you to Dr. A. Gruszczynski, the staff of Sunset Extendicare and the staff of Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital. Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina.
