LOVE, Mary Olive (neé Miller) - died peacefully on March 2nd, 2009 after a brief hospitalization at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Cherished older sister of Jean Shafto of Canmore, Alberta, and Ruth Windsor of Montreal. She will be lovingly missed by her children, David Love and Agnia, New Westminster, BC; Norah Love and Drummond White of Whitby; and Maureen Love-Smid and Jack Smid of Suwanee, Georgia. She will forever be held in the hearts of her grandchildren, Alexa Love, Amanda, Devin, and Lenore White, and Cassie and Jacqueline Smid. Mary was predeceased by her devoted husband, Jack (2001) and son, James (2007). Mary was a graduate of Victoria College, University of Toronto and became a dedicated teacher of English in Kirkland Lake, Toronto, and Thorold, Ontario. She was very active in St. Catharines and later in Peterborough with the University Women's Club, United Church, local arts, Mental Health, and literacy groups. Mary was a great lover of life and nature; she portrayed a spirit of kindness, compassion, and concern for the world around her that was greatly admired and cherished by all who knew her. A memorial service and celebration of Mary's life will be held in Whitby in the spring with burial at Bethel Cemetery in Greenbank, Ontario. 11433217
