Mary Nell Hicks of Winter Haven passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at home from renal failure. She was 73. A native of Geneva County, Ala., born Sept. 21, 1934, Mary lived in the area for 50 years, moving here from Highlands County. She was a clerk for more than 30 years for Eckerd Drug Stores, and she was a Baptist. Mary was predeceased by her husband, James Howard Collins. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Denese) Collins of Winter Haven; her daughters, Alice (Jim) Bockover, and Deborah Collins, both of Winter Haven; her brother, Charles Whitehead of Mount Vernon, Ind.; and her sister, Sue Schroeder of Mount Vernon. Mary also has six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral services will follow at 11 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park.
