MANCHESTER - Mary "Alice" Morris, 98, died peacefully after a long illness on Jan. 11, 2015, in Bedford, with family and friends at her side.Mary Alice was born on June 13, 1916, to Jacob and Zula Mae Conley on the family farm in Etters, Pa. In November 1945, she married U.S. Army Air Corps TSGT John A. Morris in a ceremony at York, Pa. After their marriage, the couple moved to Deansboro, N.Y., where they resided until Johnny's death in 1976. In 1950, they welcomed their only son, Chuck, into their lives. As a mom she was patient and nurturing, always there with loving words of encouragement and direction.Mary Alice was a dedicated wife and homemaker who was passionate about her church and community. She was an active member of the Deansboro Congregational United Church of Christ for over 50 years, teaching Sunday School, serving on church boards, and helping with suppers and church cleaning. After John's death in 1976, she moved to Clinton, N.Y., where she also spent many years attending the Stone Presbyterian Church, and travelling in Europe, Israel and the U.S. with her son and dear friend Helen Franz. In 2006, Mary Alice moved to Manchester, NH to be closer to family, where she regularly attended the First Church (UCC) Nashua, and was known by all as a kind, welcoming and loving person.Mary Alice is survived by her brother, Ray S. Conley, of Cape Coral, Fla.; her son, Charles Morris, and "adopted" son, Mark Gordon, both of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Morris, along with six brothers and four sisters.Her "sons" would also like to thank the staff at Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center for their dedicated care and kindness to both Mom and us during her time there. . SERVICES: Funeral services and burial took place in Deansboro, N.Y. ?A memorial service to celebrate Mary Alice's life will be held at the First Church (Congregational) U.C.C., 1 Concord St., Nashua, on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. The Reverend James S. Chaloner will officiate. A reception will follow in the church.
