-> Lyons - Mary Morris Odum Thompson, 101, of Lyons died early Friday morning June 20, 2003 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1902, in the Center Community of Lyons. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Lyons, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons where she was a former pianist for the Leck Strader Sunday School Class and was selected in 1983 as "The Special Person" at her church. Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her husbands, James George Odom and Eddie L. Thompson; two daughters, Elouise Odom Heard, and Melba Helen Odum. Survivors: two sons and daughters-in-law, James G. Jr., and Hazel Odom of Snellville, Edwin L. (Sonny) and Shirley Odum of Lyons; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday from the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with Dr. Max Hill officiating. Burial: Center Methodist Church Cemetery.
