Mary (Cushman) Miller ROME Mary (Cushman) Miller, age 91 of Rome, died on December 11, 2014, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 18, 1923 in Frankfort, NY, a daughter of Giuseppe Cusimano and Rosa Fiduccia Cusimano. After obtaining her education at Ilion schools, Mary worked as an assistant at Prine Dry Cleaners. She was married to Clarence Miller, Sr. on October 4, 1946. Mary was a lover of country life, having grown up on a farm then raising her own family in Floyd. She enjoyed the changing of the seasons, watching her children play outside, and caring not only for their many pets but also all the stray and injured animals they managed to find. She loved to sing and knew all the tunes from the 1930s through the 1970s. Mary read the World Book Encyclopedia for fun, and always called out to her children in Italian when it was time to come indoors. She is survived by her beloved sister, Carmella Scanio; sisters-in-law Mary Cushman and Patricia Smallenberger; daughters, Carol (Michael) Beurmann, Sylvia Hilterbrandt, Lorraine Miller, Danelle Miller, and Mary Beth (David) Braman; sons, Clarence, Jr. and Richard (Nancy) Miller; grandchildren Kate (Charles) Marker, Ross (Kristin) Beurmann, Lisa (John) Wolfe, Gary (Jessica) Hilterbrandt , Kristen Hilterbrandt and her partner, Joel Radon, Kimberly (Jonathan) Reeser, Violetta Miller, Daniel (Carolyn) Miller, Samuel Miller, Benjamin Miller and Caleb Miller; great-grandchildren, Kiera Johnson, Carleigh and Charles Marker; Thomas, Andrew and Nikki Beurmann; Michael and Rachel ODonnell; Gary, Piper, Desmond and Levon Hilterbrandt; Hayleigh and Brody Hilterbrandt; and Daniel Miller, Jr. Mary also leaves behind her wonderful extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Miller, Sr; daughter, Marilyn Miller, sisters Concetta Tinervia and Rose Ostrander Peterson; brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Charles, John, James, Samuel, Sandy, Nofrio Pete, Frank, Ross, and Daniel Cushman; sons-in-law, Gary Hilterbrandt, Sr. and John Jack Lonis; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and other dear family members. The family would like to thank the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital RHCF for their many years of dedication and care. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Home 7944 Steuben St, Holland Patent. Funeral mass will be said on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Leos & St. Anns Catholic Church 7939 Elm St, Holland Patent, Rev. Vincent Long officiating.
