McCORMACK Mary McCormack, age 91, a town resident for 73 years, died on Friday, February 25, 2005, at Greenwich Woods Health Care Center. She died of natural causes, her family said. Born on October 20, 1913, in Glasgow, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late John and Matlida Doherty Convery, from Draperstown, County Derry, Northern Ireland. She came to America at the age of 16 in 1929. She stayed with relatives in Brooklyn, N.Y., and eventually came to Greenwich as a nanny for the Geis family in Riverside. In 1936 she married Patrick McCormack, settling in Greenwich and remaining there for the rest of their lives. While raising her four children, Mary worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary's School, Greenwich Country Day School and for Duval Caterers. She also worked for many prominent Greenwich families such as the Pryors and the Reids. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was a member of the Lady's Guild at St. Mary's Church where she was a parishioner for more than 65 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick in 1985, a grandson, Thomas William in 1989, a sister, Kathleen, and a brother, William. The epitome of an Irish mother, she was so very proud of her four children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Susie Higgins of Greenwich; and three sons, Patrick W. McCormack of Southport, James E. McCormack of Shrewsbury, Mass., John F. McCormack of Santa Monica, Calif. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (Today) February 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 28, at St. Mary's Church, Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich.
