Mary Margaret Mossteller Weller - SAVANNAH - Mary Margaret Mossteller Weller, 98, departed this life to be with the Lord on March 9, 2009. She was born in West Chester, Ohio. She was the daughter of Cora and Frank Mossteller of Ohio. After the early demise of her mother, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Mary and Cassius Carter at their family farm in West Chester, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1935 with a degree in Social Work and worked for the Red Cross in Cincinnati, Ohio until she married her husband, Paul L. Weller in 1936. She moved to Savannah, GA in 1962 where her husband worked with Southern Nitrogen Company which later became Kaiser Agricultural Chemical Company. Mary was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Parkersburg Garden Club for several years. She was also a life member of P.E.O. She served many years on the Race Committee at the Savannah Yacht Club. She also served as a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary for over 30 years. She served on the Savannah Symphony Guild. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church on Washington Avenue since 1962 where she attended Bible study classes and was a church women's circle leader for many years. She was also an accomplished bridge player in ladies and couples bridge groups. Mary was a gracious hostess and loved to cook, and hosted many parties over the years with her many friends and family. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, with her favorite trips being to Alaska. She was a friend to all and loved by many and a dedicated mother to her family. She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Weller; her son, Ronald P. Weller and his wife Norma of Savannah; her two daughters Karen Burroughs and her husband, Jerry of Zionsville, IN and Alahna Weller and her husband John Lilley of Los Alamos, NM. Survivors also include five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Andy Lyons and Jennifer Dunne; Terry and Catherine Lyons and their children, Aidan and Devan; Dale and Pamela Lyons and their children Henry and Corinna; Mark and Allyson Burroughs and their children Grace and Lawson; Brian Burroughs; Shawn and Gay Appleby and their daughter, Caroline. A celebration of life memorial service for Mary Weller will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 E. Washington Avenue, Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances may be given in her name to the First Presbyterian Church or to Hospice Savannah, Inc. May God bless her soul.
