HUGHES, Mary Margaret Costello, of John Knox Village, Tampa, formerly of Central Square, N.Y. died Saturday, December 11, 2010. She was the beloved wife of William Joseph Hughes Jr., who predeceased her; the cherished mother of Patricia Turner (Howard) of Ormond by the Sea, Fla., Margaret Ashcroft (Jeremiah) of Dawsonville, Ga., Barbara Fitzpatrick (Timothy) of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Judith Johnson (James, who predeceased her), of Franklin, Mass; loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., March 30, 1912, she was the devoted daughter of Lafayette and Margaret Costello, who predeceased her, and the loving sister of Paul Costello, who also predeceased her. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Hughes, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from Nottingham High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Saint Vincent College. Her life centered around daily prayer for the needs of others and belief in God' s presence in our lives. She was an unforgettable person to all who knew her and will be greatly missed and remembered forever. The conviction of her faith is a gift given to her family.A funeral mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Temple Terrace, Fla., contact Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel for date and time. There will be a spring interment in Central Square, N.Y. Arrangements there will be made through Traub Funeral Home.
