MELNYK, Mary Wilma (nee Grekul) June 26, 1917 January 5, 2011 It is with great sadness that Mary's family announces her passing, peacefully in her sleep, on January 5, 2011 at the age of 93 at Silver Birch Lodge in Sherwood Park, AB. Mary will be lovingly missed by son, Dennis (Pam) Melnyk of Sherwood Park and daughter, Shauna (Lorne) Greenwood of Milton, ON; as well as grandchildren, Scott (Tanja) Melnyk of Stockholm, Sweden, Shauna (Steve) Hollinger of Sherwood Park, Ashley Greenwood of Boston, MA and Caitlin Greenwood of Milton, ON. Mary leaves behind four beautiful great-grandsons, Elliott, Adam, Will and Max; as well as sisters, Olga Boida, Ruth Gust and Ann Gray. She was predeceased by her husband, John in December 2003. Prior to retiring in Alberta to be near family, Mary taught elementary school in Regina at Herchmer and then Massey Public School until 1980. Mary was an avid duplicate bridge player, keen golfer and awesome shopaholic! The family would like to thank Dr. A. Elfiky, Strathcona Homecare and the staff at Silver Birch Lodge for years of wonderful attention and care. Viewing on Sunday, January 9 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Funeral Service and interment on Monday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens 16102 Fort Road, Edmonton.
