MANCHESTER - Mary M. Carroll, 70, of Manchester, NH, died November 3, 2013, at Catholic Medical Center, after a sudden illness. Born in Lawrence, MA on May 12, 1943, she was the daughter of Francis and Margaret (O'Connor) Griffin. She was raised in Lawrence. Afterwards, she resided in Billerica, MA, and Virginia before moving to the Queen City. She graduated from North Andover High School, North Andover, MA. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Merrimack College. Early in her career, she was an English teacher at Sacred Heart School, Lawrence. Until her retirement, she worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover and Washington, D.C., for thirty years. Mary was very devoted to her faith and was a communicant of Saint Pius X Church. She was an active member of the funeral consolers as well as the ladies guild of the parish. In addition, she was a volunteer at the Currier Museum for several years. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her family was the center of her life. She will be remembered for her warm smile and selfless ways. She was married to Kenneth J. Carroll. He died April 24, 2005. Family members include her son, Sean F. Scanlon of Manchester; her daughter, Kathleen M. Scanlon of Billerica, MA; two grandchildren, Christopher and Lisa; her sister, Catherine J. Burkhart and her husband, Philip, of South Lawrence, MA; and four nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her. . SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH. The funeral will be held Friday with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10AM in Saint Pius X Church, Candia Road, Manchester, NH. Burial will take place in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH 03109.
