Mary M. Carpenter Town of Binghamton Mary M. Carpenter, 82, Town of Binghamton, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008, at home. Predeceased by her only sister, four brothers; and great-granddaughter, Shontae. Beloved wife of Lynn; devoted mother of Terry (Marilyn Clark) Carpenter, Linda Caviness, Dale (Ani) Carpenter, Wayne (Patty) Carpenter, Debbie (Greg) Martinez, Nancy (David Minster) Carpenter-Rogers, Cheryl (Mike Lanuti) Carpenter, Jill (Dave) Francis; adored grandmother of Tod, Nichole, Crystal, Jodie, Curtis, Colene, Christian, Staci, Sarah E. (Tim), Sarah A., Kim (Adam), Holly, Andrew, Terry, Hannah, Bethany; cherished great-grandmother of Devan, Ariana, Angelina Mary, Taylor, Bryant, Carter, Alexander and Dakota; survived by four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and special friends. Born and raised in Mansfield, Pa., she worked as a Red Cross volunteer in Corning, NY, during WWII. She met Lynn, a returning veteran in June of 1945 and was married in September of the same year. She had a lifelong commitment to community services. She worked as an Inspector of Elections and was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1611 (past president), Post 478, Order Of The Cooties, Pierce Creek Fire Auxiliary Town of Binghamton and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, a Town of Binghamton Seniors member and a past Boy Scouts Den Mother. A Service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., with Dave Francis officiating at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Binghamton, N.Y. Burial will take place in the spring. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m., Sunday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Binghamton Meals on Wheels, 85 Walnut Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905; or NYS Veterans Home at Oxford, Donation Account, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, N.Y. 13830.
