-> Deaconess Mary Lou Holmes Wilson, who was affectionately called Babe, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Azalealand Nursing Home under Hospice Care. Babe was born November 2, 1916 in Waynesboro, Georgia to Mr. Mack Holmes and Mrs. Ellen Holmes Hampton. She was one of eleven children. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death. Her parents relocated the family to Savannah, Georgia, where Babe received her education in the Chatham County Public Schools and Beach Vocational School. Babe accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and loyal member of Miller's Temple Johnson Deliverance Center until her health failed. She served diligently as the first president of the Number 1 Usher Board, a member of the Deaconess Board and she was the longest living member until her demise. In 1936, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur James Wilson, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted and loving wife for 31 year s. Babe was an employee of Savannah Sugar Refinery. She retired after 43 years of service. She was a caring and loving aunt, a caregiver, a good neighbor, and her generosity was never ending. She leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces and nephews, Joan (Clarence) Holliday-White, Gloria (Leroy) Holliday Simmons, Deborah (Kelvin) Holliday Allen, Brenette (Herman) Holliday Washington, Cheryl (James) Holliday Tillman, Leona (Bogla) Daniels, Constance (Parnell) Bing Rogers, Jeanette (Edward) Bing Addison, and Vanburen (Gwendolyn) Williams of Savannah, GA; Barbara Holliday and Ronald Holliday of Houston, TX Jean Gale John Smith, Jr. and Anthony Jones of New York, City; one sister-in-law, Deaconess Vernelle (Deacon Raddie) Jackson; a devoted cousin, Mr. Willie Cooper of Savannah, GA; a loving goddaughter, Margo Jackson; a very caring and devoted caregiver, Henrietta Johnson; a special neighbor, Mrs. Betty Miles and family; a host of grandnieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service for Deaconess Mary Lou Holmes Wilson will be held 1pm Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Miller's Temple Johnson Deliverance Center, 2306 Hopkins St. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
