Funeral service for Mary Lou Gowin, 71, Poplar Drive, Ormond Beach, who passed away Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Holly Hill Church of Christ, with the Rev. Wiley Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Rest Cemetery. Friends may call and pay their respects Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill. Mrs. Gowin was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 61 years ago from Chicago. She was a former manager and worked in sales for Sears Department Store, Daytona Beach. Mrs. Gowin was a member of the Church of Christ, Holly Hill, where she was very active and had Bible studies in her home. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and fellowship with friends. She loved to visit and encourage people. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Don; daughter, Dee Gowin- Washington, Ormond Beach; brother, Jim (Carol) Calabrese, Ormond Beach; sister-in-law, Carol Caveman (Jim), Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michelle Reddick, Ormond Beach, and Matt Washington, Bentonville, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Washington, Ormond Beach, and Sophie Washington, Jackson, Tenn.; nieces, Debbie Austin, Georgetown, Ind., Denice Schilsky, Ormond Beach, Elizabeth Elvidge, Kennesaw, Ga., and Trish Burkhart, Cincinnati, Ohio; nephews, Mark Calabrese, Ormond Beach, Jim Caveman Jr., Knoxville, Tenn., and John Caveman. The family suggests in lieu of other remembrances, donations to Church of Chrust Bus Fund, 1725 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, FL 32117.
