Mary Lou Christian of OxfordMary Lou Christian, 61, of 23 Chenango St, Oxford, died peacefully on July 16, 2002 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. She was born December 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Ronald and Hazel (Williams) Cox. On May 19, 1962, she married Donald W. Christian, who predeceased her on June 15, 1991. She is survived by her children, Beth Rainbow and Mark Root, Cincinnatus, Denny Christian, Oxford, and William and Krissy Christian, Oxford; her grandchildren, Jennifer Christian, Berkshire and Joshua Christian, Oxford; her great-granddaughter, Marissa Patrick; her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Lynn Ross, Oxford; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Ella Mae Christian, South New Berlin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Anna Christian, South New Berlin, Mary Lee and Ken Meyers, South New Berlin, and Cynthia Christian, Arlington, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School. An avid bowler, she was a member of the Norwich Bowling Hall of Fame and served as President and Secretary of several leagues, including the Women's A League and the Plaza Bowlers. She was currently serving as President of the Oxford Fire Department Auxiliary and Treasurer of Fort Hill Post #376 American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid bingo player. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2002 at 11 a.m. from the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford with the Rev. Allen Lang, Pastor of the United Church of Oxford, officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Auxiliary, the Oxford Emergency Squad, or the American Cancer Society.
