Mary Lee Langston Martin, widow of Jasper Young Martin of Gray Court, died July 8, 2001, in Jacksonville, Fla. Born in 1914, she was a daughter of Joseph Lee and Mary Patterson Langston, both of Laurens. Mrs. Langston was a graduate of Mary Black Hospital and a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She cared for and comforted the wounded soldiers returning form overseas to Camp Croft. She is survived by two children, Lynda Lee Martin McHone and spouse James, and Dr. Dwight David Martin and spouse Anne. Her beloved grandchildren are Bryan Patrick McHone, Daniel Lee Martin and spouse Amanda, Joel David Martin, Elizabeth Lynn Martin, Mark Andrew McHone; and a great-grandchild, Ashley Lynn Martin. Her brother, Herbert H. Langston, and his children, Gail Langston and Herbert Langston Jr., reside in Shelby, N.C. Mrs. Martin also has many nieces and nephews along with her church friends at Terry Parker Baptist Church. All will miss her beauty, compassion and loving spirit. A visitation was held Wednesday at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla., with the funeral at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Marcus Buckley. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Warrior Creek Baptist Church in Gray Court, conducted by the Rev. John Lee.
