Service of Celebration for Mother Mary L. May-Miller, who stepped out of her mortal body as the angels of heaven were waiting to welcome her into her glorius body on Thursday, November 23, 2006, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 2, at the Greater Union First Baptist Church, 240 South Clara Avenue, DeLand, the Rev. Troy Bradley, host pastor, and the Bishop Walter C. Kelley officiating. Calling hours are today (Friday) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Arthur Mack Funeral Home and Saturday in the church from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow the services in Union Cemetery, DeLand, followed by repast at Greater Union Church Educational Building. Mary L. May-Miller was born in Porterville, Miss., May 23, 1930, to the late Milton and Verna Townsand. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. A resident of DeLand, she served faithfully as a mother of Pillarground Outreach Ministry under the leadership of Bishop W. C. Kelley. She retired from Brunswick Medical Corp. in 1985. Also, she was a foster parent with the Council on Aging for Woodward Elementary School. She was a mother of love for her children and others. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Clarence Miller; four sons, Tony May, Hattiesburg, Miss., Henry May, Jr., James May, Dariel May, all of DeLand; eight daughters, Minnie (John) Phyfer, Deltona, Louise Douglas, Emma May, Gloria Young, Louease May, all of DeLand, Sharon May, Sanford, Debbie Patrick, DeLand, and Hazel (Matthew) May-Carlyle, Deltona; sister, Dorothy King, Hattiesburg, Miss.; godson, Artavias Carter, DeLand; brother-in-law, Carl Miller, Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Verdell (Lloyd) McCord, New Haven, Conn., and Rossie Broxton, Smyrna, Ga.; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
