Mary L. Anderson, 99, of Southington, died Jan. 30, 2011, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial. She was the wife of the late Lester Anderson.She was born March 18, 1911, in Penobscot, Maine, to the late Leon and Lucy Leach.She had a home in OxBow, Maine, surrounded by the acres of a potato farm for more than 60 years. She taught second grade for many years in Ashland, Maine. Two of her many interests were travel and painting.She is survived by her daughter, Connie Rand, of Southington; six grandchildren, David Rand, of Rocky Hill, Robin Rand and his wife, Adelia, of Plantsville, Karla Amaral, of Fall River, Mass., Bradford Amaral and his wife, Sherry Amaral, of Westport, Mass., Douglas Amaral, of North Dartmouth, Mass., and Michael Amaral and his wife, Lorraine, of Windmere, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sally Amaral, and her son, Gregory Amaral.A memorial service was held Feb. 5, 2011, at Plantsville Funeral Home, Plantsville. A graveside service is planned for next summer.
