Mary L. Allen Utica Mary L. Allen, 78, of Utica, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Mary was born on March 2, 1933 in Blakley, Georgia, the daughter of Tom and Margaret Crew Dixon. She married Deacon Milton Allen, Sr., a blessed union of 50 years. Mr. Allen passed away in 2003. Surviving Mary are one daughter, Carolyn Allen (Stan), Utica; five sons, Milton Allen, Jr., Dennis (Janie) Allen, Ronnie (Jennifer) Allen, and Michael Allen, all of Utica, and Kenny Allen, Canandaigua; daughter-in-law, Kamele Dixon, Philadelphia; twenty four grandchildren and forty six great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two special grandchildren, Aaron and Dia who Mary raised as her own children. She was predeceased by her son, Willie in 1997, grandson, Ronnie, granddaughter Chanel, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:00 from Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church, 1309 Howard Ave., Utica. The Allen family would like to thank the CCU at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, as well as Dr. Ira Tisch, for the care and compassion shown to Mary.
