Mrs. Mary Kathryn Thrasher Smith, age 85, of Florence, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Lewis County Manor in Hohenwald, Tenn., after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born July 17, 1918, in Cloverdale, Ala. She was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church and a longtime member of St. John United Methodist Church in Florence. Known to her family as Mama K," she enjoyed sewing, crafts and making gifts for family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial in Greenview Memorial Park.Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Pugh and Nora Thrasher; and her daughter-in-law, Jamie Tate Smith.She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Coy Smith, of Florence; son, Sammie Smith and wife, Barbara, of Florence; daughter, Debra Tuten and husband, Frank, of Muscle Shoals; five grandchildren, Belinda McKee, Bill Smith, Emily Wilbanks, Jennifer Call and David Tuten; three great-grandchildren, Jamie and Kyle McKee and Hannah Call.Pallbearers will be family and friends.The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lewis County Manor in Hohenwald, Tenn., for assisting Mary when her illness overcame the family's ability to care for her at home. She loved all of the staff and spoke to us often about her "family" at Lewis County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewis County Manor, P.O.
