TUSCALOOSA Mary Jo Shuttlesworth Miller, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, died March 21, 2009. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Griff Pimberton officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her mother, Iru Butler; her father, Frank Butler; her husband, Richard F. Miller; and her brothers, Mark Shuttlesworth, Sam Shuttlesworth, and Frankie Butler.Survivors include her sons, Hugh Miller (Janice) and Rusty Miller (Viola); her brother, Barry Shuttlesworth (Pat); her grandchildren, Ashley Willis, Trey Miller, Ty Miller, and Mark Miller (Kellie); and a very special sister, Sarah Sullivan.Mary moved to Tuscaloosa in 1932. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and an active member of her church. She loved and cared for her family and others. She enjoyed sports and fishing.Pallbearers will be Anthony Shuttlesworth, David Shuttlesworth, Mark Shuttlesworth, Glenn Mitchell, Bill Lamb, and Mike Lamb.Honorary pallbearers are former employees of Bryce Hospital Dental Clinic, Dr. and Mrs. C. Daniel Propst, Dr. Keith DeBell, employees and retirees of the Tuscaloosa Fire Department, Kirk Patterson and employees of Patco Electric, and friends and members of Taylorville United Methodist Church and South Highlands Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Taylorville United Methodist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
