JOHNSON, Mary Catherine Mary Catherine Johnson passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the age of 85. Mary was born in Dalroy, Alberta in 1918 to Margaret and Charles Hoffman and grew up in Bowden and area. In 1938, she married the late "Red" Johnson (1917-1982) and together they raised four children. Mary worked in several jobs throughout the province, one of which included operating the Strathmore Dairy Bar where she quickly gained a reputation for her delicious pies. The number of activities in which she was involved evidenced Mary's love of life -her beloved Church, adult learning courses, curling, golf, travel, bridge and crib, to name a few. Mary lived in many Alberta towns and cities throughout her lifetime. Her last six years were spent happily in Red Deer surrounded by the love of family. Mary was predeceased by her sister Arline Howell, her brother Donald Hoffman, and her stepsister Lillian Hoffman. She is survived by her children Donna Little and her husband Cy, Wayne and his wife Ann, Derek and his wife Shirley, and Gary. Mary's self-described "precious gifts" are her 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Special relatives include Shirley O'Hara; Lynn and Sue Howell and their two children; Warren Howell; and Donald Hoffman Jr. and family. Mary was also blessed with many close friendships throughout Alberta. Funeral services will be held at the Metcalf Funeral Chapel, 4200 - 49 Ave, Innisfail, on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Innisfail Cemetery.
