Mary Irene Weckesser (nee McGowan) of Whiting, N.J., died on June 20, 2014, at the age of 91. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Hightstown, N.J., at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27, with burial following at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton St., Hightstown, N.J. 08520. Mary was born in Jersey City, N.J., in 1923 and lived in Menlo Park Terrace, Woodbridge Township, N.J., for 38 years before moving to Whiting in 1996. Mary was a homemaker raising her six children before working in the human resources department of Supermarkets General until her retirement. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, George Weckesser. Her parents, John and Anna McGowan, and sister, Agnes McDevitt, also predeceased her. Mary is survived by her devoted children: George Weckesser and his wife, Beth Lapow; Catherine Jost and her husband, Brian Jost; Robert Weckesser and his wife, Linda Weckesser; Peter Weckesser and his wife, Kerry Miller; John Weckesser and his wife, Danielle Weckesser, and Patricia Alexander and her husband, Harry Alexander. She is also survived by eight loving grandchildren: Katie and Patrick Jost, Shane and Jason Weckesser, Aaron and Seth Weckesser, and Caitlin and Christopher Alexander. Mary's sister, Kitty Hromnak, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
