Mary Hyde Anderson, "Hydie", 99, of Daytona Beach, passed away May 12, 2009. A memorial service will be held on May 20th at 6:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach. She was born August 14, 1909 in Dover, Tennessee. Hydie moved to Daytona Beach in 1927 with her parents and her sister. She soon began working for the Daytona Credit Bureau which was located over the old Post Office on Volusia Avenue, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Halifax Cleaners and the Bay Street Pharmacy. Hydie was an active member of the Palmetto Club, the Cherry Laurel Garden Club, and was recognized for over five years of service as a "Pink Lady" with Halifax Hospital. She loved music and enjoyed dancing at the Ocean Pier Casino in the 1930's and more recently at the Ormond Senior Center. She was a lifelong contributor to the Humane Society and always had one or more dogs or cats in her home. Hydie was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her vital and active life continues to inspire those who knew her. She is survived by son, David Sr. and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Kim (John) Gingars of Port Orange, David Jr. of Daytona, and Leah Hutchinson of South Daytona; great-grandchildren, Christina and Patrick Gingars and Jackson Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her husband, Ross Anderson and husband and dance partner, Kenny Colbart. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society.
