Mrs. Mary Jewell Hicks, widow of Lt. Colonel William R. Hicks, died Wednesday at Colleton Courtyard, Walterboro, S.C.Born April 27, 1919 in Fountain Inn, S.C., she was the daughter of the late James Lewis Jewell and Ida Belle Duncan Jewell. She was a graduate of Chesnee High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Greenville, S.C. She was a loving mother and grandmother and made each grandchild feel special, as if she or he were the only one.Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Samuel Floyd of Mauldin S.C. and Enid and James Eberhardt of Yemassee, S.C.; a brother, James Lewis Jewell of Boiling Springs, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Michael A. Floyd of Richmond, Va., Robin Anne Floyd of Washington, D.C., Gary A. and Laurie Floyd, both of Howell, N.J., Melanie E. and Brian Bagwell, both of Darlington, S.C., Kelly A. Floyd of Simpsonville, S.C., Brian D. Eberhardt of Yemassee, S.C., and Marie E. and Brandon Cook, both of Walterboro, S.C.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma J. Logan, Sarah J. Cheek, Edith J. Kilpatrick and Laura J. Brady.Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel in Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney, S.C. with burial immediately following the service. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. A local visistation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, Walterboro, S.C.Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, P.O.
