Mary Helen Williams Mary Helen Williams, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at Killearn United Methodist Church, with burial at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. EST Sunday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-893-4177).Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 2518 W. Tennessee St., Tallahassee, FL 32304, or Killearn United Methodist Church, 2800 Shamrock South, Tallahassee, FL 32309. Helen was born to missionary-physician parents and was raised in China. A physician herself, she served as medical director of the Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Avon Park.While there, she helped develop new treatments for alcoholism. She later retired from Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee in 1985, where she had served as medical director. Helen was an active member of Killearn United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She is much loved and will be missed by her surviving children, Edward Williams of Tallahassee, James H. Williams Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Nancy Scott (and husband Chris) of Bowling Green, Ky.; and a sister, Dorothy Ruth Mewshaw of Tallahassee.She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James "Jim" H. Williams.
