Mary Nolan Hanlon of Marblehead, wife of the late James F. Hanlon, passed away on February 21. She was born on May 13, 1930 in Boston, the daughter of the late Richard H. Nolan and Audrey White Nolan. Mary graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in 1955. Before her marriage she was a social worker in the adoption department of Boston Catholic Charities and later a teacher of special needs children in the Boston school system. Mary moved to Marblehead in 1965, where she was an active member of her community and parish. Surviving her are five children, Maria Hanlon of Charlestown; Katy Hanlon of Marblehead; Susan Hanlon Rigby and her husband Morgan Rigby of Marblehead; Ann Hanlon of Los Angeles, CA and Peter Hanlon and his wife Cathleen Carr of New York, NY; two sisters Audrey Galvin and her husband Edward Galvin of Dover, MA and Terry Nolan and her husband Scott McDowell of Natick, MA; also two brothers Richard Nolan of Wayland and Robert (Tony) Nolan and his wife Beth Nolan of Weston, MA; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hanlon's Funeral will be from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (Cor of North St.) Salem on Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Internment will be at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
