Graveside services for Mary Grace Brown Mason, 92, of Santa Rose Beach, Fla., formerly of Atlanta, Ga., and Chattanooga, Tenn., will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville. Ms. Mason was born on April 11, 1920, in Rossville, Ga., to the late William Kelly Brown and Melissa Pearl Kelly. She attended University of Georgia, University of Tennessee at Knoxville and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she earned a Bachelor or Science in Biology. Ms. Mason served with the Women's Army Corp on Staten Island during World War II where she held the rank of Lieutenant. Following her service she pursued a career as a Laboratory Technician at Crawford Long Hospital in Chattanooga. Ms. Brown, as she was known before marriage, wed Mr. Lark E. Mason, Sr., on Dec. 31, 1949, in Chattanooga, and their union would continue until the time of his passing on June 30, 2002. Ms. Mason was a member of Seagrove Baptist Church and she departed this life on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her home. Survivors to cherish her memory include her son, Lark E. Mason, Jr. (Erica) of New York, N.Y.; daughters, Kelly Pierce (David) of Houston, Texas, Leigh Leuze (David) and Jana Caldwell (Jim) all of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Joanna Anderson (Michael), Lark E. Mason III (Lauren), Melissa Mason, David Pierce, Jr. (Anya), Branson Pierce, Rachel Pierce, Jacob Leuze, Grant Leuze and Daniel Leuze; and great-grandchildren, Stella Pierce and Lark E. Mason IV. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.org.
