GAMBLE _ Mary (nee Pek) passed away peacefully on December 21, 2003 at the age of 82, after a courageous, seventeen year battle with cancer. She will be sorely missed by her husband of 51 years, Bill, daughter Margaret Ostrander and husband Jon (Trenton, ON), son Bill and wife Jan (Quesnel, BC), grandchildren Eric, Marnie, Drew, and Scott, brother Mike Pek (Lenore), and sister Helen Taylor. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Ann Keats. Mary was born in Hungary in 1921 and emigrated to Vancouver in 1930. Aside from working most of the 1940s in Ottawa and Washington, Mary lived in Vancouver, working as a secretary, housewife, and volunteer with church, charity, and sports. A service in her memory will be held on Tuesday, December 30, at 2:00 p.m., at Wilson Heights United Church, 1634 E. 41st Ave., @ Argyle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
