Mary was a longtime member of Lowndesboro Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Guthrie. Survivors include her children, Betsy Guthrie, Joe Guthrie, Ruth (J.C.) Nichols, and Margaret (Fritz) Froess, and grandchildren, David Watts, Christopher Watts, Alex Martinez, and Jay Nichols. In lieu of flowers, Mary had requested that donations be made to the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236-1767.
