GUTHRIE, Mary B., age 61, of Tampa, FL, passed away on December 7, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born February 22, 1952, in Miami, FL, the oldest of 5 children, to James J. and Rita B. (Lynch) Guthrie. She held an MBA (University of Miami) and BA in Sociology (University of FL), and dedicated her healthcare career to the advancement of policies on aging and long-term care. She loved gardening, cooking, traveling abroad, and exploring the world. Mary embraced knowledge, and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Denise Geary. She is survived by her sister Susan Smith (Roger), Naples, FL; brother Donald Guthrie (Judy), Stuart, FL; brother Ronald Guthrie, Naples, FL; nieces Lisa Smith Hale and Cheryl Smith Lucente; nephews Kyle J. Smith and Ryan J. Guthrie; and great-nephew Dylan Roger Heath. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jessie F. Richardson Foundation, 15900 SE 82nd Drive, Clackamas, OR 97015 to support its mission of improving the lives of indigent elders across generations and across borders. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at a later date.
