ALLEN, Mary Frances ChamberlainPassed away October 29, 2012. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Burdette and Edith Myrtle Simmons Chamberlain; brother, Don Chamberlain; sister, Marcella Chamberlain; her husband of over 50 years, Col. Arthur Howard Allen Jr. Survived by two sons, Paul (Charlene) Allen and Jim (Debbie) Allen; daughter and caregiver, Suzanne Allen; two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Brian) Russell and Emily Allen. Mary Frances was born in Texarkana, Texas on June 6, 1919 and moved to Nashville, TN when she was ten years old. She was a graduate of East High School and had many life long friends from East. After raising her family, she returned to college and graduated from MTSU in 1967 while caring for her father and father-in-law and went on to earn her Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee. She retired from Metro schools after 25 years as a Librarian at Amqui Elementary School. Her greatest legacy to her children and grandchildren was her love of family and friends and her focus on the importance of education. She was a member of General Daniel Smith's Rock Castle Chapter of the DAR and she was a member of Pennington United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1996 and was always courageous in her long battle with it while being a strong example for others. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Pennington United Methodist Church, 2745 Pennington Bend Road with Dr. John Carpenter and Reverend Ray Newell officiating. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Pennington United Methodist Church, 2745 Pennington Bend Road, Nashville, TN 37214.
