Fitzgerald, Mary (Leahy) GUILDERLAND Mary Leahy Fitzgerald, 85, went home to God on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland with her daughter by her side. The daughter of the late John and Katherine Leahy, Mary was born in Spring field, Mass. where she lived most of her life, most recently on Emerald Road. A retiree of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Mary enjoyed music and dancing, reading, crocheting and working in her yard. Predeceased by her loving husband, James Fitzgerald and her brother, John Leahy, she is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) Slater and her grandsons, James and Daniel Slater, all of Clifton Park, N.Y.; by her sisters, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Springfield, Mass. and Kathleen Hibbert of Wilbraham, Mass.; and by her 12 nieces and nephews and their families. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the entire community at Our Lady of Mercy for the wonderful care and support they gave Mary and us. A funeral Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel in Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland. A calling hour will precede the service at 10:30 a.m. Mary will then be taken to Springfield, Mass, followed by an 11:00 a.m. prayer service and interment in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
