Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Liberty Mortuary, Inc. Eulogies will be by grandchildren, sons-in-law, and a grand-son-in-law, the Rev. James Skipworth. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m., prior to the service.Mary Bailey Crews Finney, 82, of 34 Parker Place, LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in LaGrange, Ga. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Finney.Born in Wauchula, Fla., in the Popash community, she was the youngest and 15th child of the late Joseph and Flossie Crew. She was known in Pickens County and the region as an avid and competitive golfer. Mrs. Finney was the Pickens County Country Club Women's Golf Champion for 19 straight years, as well as winning many region championships. She was elected to the office of mayor of Liberty twice. She had a great passion for public service and projects to benefit those less fortunate. She was recognized as Woman of the Year for Pickens County and for the state of South Carolina. She was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church.Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Miko Finney of Atlanta, Ga., and Bobby "Moose" and Robin Finney of Anderson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra and Pat Bowie of LaGrange, Ga., and Jan and Gary Garner of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Evelyn Beeson of Liberty and Myra McCall of Wauchula, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all who lovingly knew her as "Nannie", "Nannook" and "Aunt Pig".
