Shanahan, Mary F. TROY Mary F. Shanahan, 98, of Troy, died on Friday, November 23, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Valatie, N.Y. on January 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John and Ada Fischer and the wife of the late Thomas F. Shanahan. Mary moved to Cohoes where she spent her early years. She worked in the Harmony Mills in Cohoes and then the Nirenburg Shirt factory in Troy. She was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church and their ladies guild and was currently a member of Gilead Lutheran Church and the Gilead Bells. Survivors include two sons, Thomas E. (Linda) Shanahan of Maryland and John (Darlene) Shanahan of Troy; also survived by two grandsons, Michael (Nicole) Shanahan of Troy and Thomas Scott (Lynnette) Shanahan of Berlin; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Mary was predeceased by her four sisters, Jennie Braun, Edna Gersch, Bertha Kinnicutt and Ethel McCarthy. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. from the Gilead Lutheran Church, Routes 7 & 278 in Brunswick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner and Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street in Troy on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. If desired, donations can be made in Mary's memory to the Speigletown Volunteer Fire Company, 146 Speigletown Rd. Troy, NY 12182 or to the Rensselaer County Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144. The family would like to thank the nurses of St. Mary's Hospital, fifth floor and the Community Hospice staff for their love and kindness given to Mary. Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy.
