Mary Ellen Sullivan, 77, of Colonia, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2014. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, N.J., on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 8:30 a.m., thence to St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Colonia, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. To offer condolences, please visit walterjohnsonfh.com. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Glen Craig, Scotland. She came to the United States at the age of 19, settling in Newark, N.J. She then moved to Colonia, where Mrs. Sullivan resided for the past 53 years. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 6571 of Colonia. Mrs. Sullivan was a bookkeeper for Bank of America in Colonia, formerly First Bank of Colonia, for 22 years, retiring in 1990. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Joan (Fraser) Welsh, and her brother, William Welsh. Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert H. Sullivan; her devoted children, Michael J. Sullivan and his wife, Janice, and Kathleen Sullivan; her cherished grandchildren, Lindsay and Scott Jordan, and Colin, Brenna and James Sullivan; her sister, Margaret Archibald, and her brother, James Welsh.
