Mary Ellen G. Rogers WELLFORD, SC-- Mary Ellen Godfrey Rogers, 63, of 360 Syphrit Road, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Jonas Paul and Mary Sue Ridings Godfrey, she was a homemaker and a member of Loree United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Douglas M. Rogers of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Greg Abbott of Startex, Beth Rogers of Wellford, and Kathy and Kevin Akard of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, William Ralph Godfrey and Charles Wayne Godfrey, both of Duncan; two sisters, Clara Burnette of Duncan and Shirley Lewis of Spartanburg; and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, Ashley, and Andrew Abbott, Spencer and Hanna Austin, Luke Akard, and Hunter Sloan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 23, 2010 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Robin Griffith. Burial will follow in Westwood Memorial Gardens.
