ALBANY, NY -- Mary Elizabeth Picard, 89, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Kelly Van Olinda. She retired as a packer after 22 years with the former Tobin Packing Co. in West Albany. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and former member of the Colonie Elks, Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Picard. She was the dear mother of William H. Picard Jr. (Barbara) of Albany, Howard R. Picard (Ann) of Clifton Park and JoAnn Picard Boucher (Roger) of Roanoke, Va.; sister of the late J. Edward Van Olinda, Julia M. Tobin and James Harry Van Olinda; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the staff at the Albany County Nursing Home for all the care and concern they gave Mary during her stay there. Funeral services Saturday at 9:15 from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Our Lady of Mercy Church, Wilson Ave., Colonie at 10:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4:00 to 7:00 in the funeral home. Interment, Memory's Garden Cemetery.
